			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We are steadily reminded that <a href="http://www.visitcalifornia.com/">California</a> faces water shortages in the near future.  In light of this, I now conserve water using a method required of us while I previously lived at the <a href="http://www.nsf.gov/od/opp/support/southp.jsp">South Pole</a>.  This method is the &#8220;Navy Shower&#8221;. The basic steps are:</p>
<ol>
<li>After initially wetting your body, shut the water OFF.</li>
<li>Lather up and scrub down with the water OFF.</li>
<li>Turn the water back on to rinse off only.</li>
</ol>
<p>The total time for the water running should be around two minutes.  This method may save up to 50 gallons of water per shower.  I recommend saving water by this method.</p>
<p>Stay clean, everybody.</p>
